Vivian M. Thum, 89, of Mikado, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Maple Grove Adult Foster Care in Barton City.

Born November 10, 1935, to Austin and Olive (Procunier) Emerson in Harrisville, she has been a lifelong resident of the area. On June 6, 1959 she married Franz Thum. A devoted homemaker, Vivian loved embroidery and tending to her garden. She enjoyed canning what she grew and making jam. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado, and of the Mikado Goodfellows.

Vivian is survived by her son, Keith (LouAnn) Thum, her daughter, Kim (Tim) Coggins, three grandchildren, Amelia (Zak) Kasuske, Austin (Kara) Coggins, and Kyle Thum, her daughter-in-law, Debbie Thum, her sister, Geraldine Lowrey, her brother-in-law, Marlin O’Dell, her niece, Beth (Jim) Czaban, two nephews, Wayne (Deb) O’Dell, and Randy (Jackie) O’Dell, her dear friend, Lois Travis, and many cousins and friends, who she cherished over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franz on April 13, 1968, her son Karl Thum on July 22, 2009, her sister, Lucille O’Dell, and her niece, Marsha O’Dell.

Vivian is at Gillies Funeral Home, where visitation will take place on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Tim Steiner will officiate. Memorial donations are suggested to the Mikado Goodfellows, No Child Without a Christmas, or to Calvary Baptist Church, Mikado.
