Truman A. Thornton

Truman A. Thornton, 80, of Glennie, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at his home. Born August 20, 1942, to Albert and Myrtle (MacGregor) Thornton in Barton City, MI, he was a lifelong resident of Glennie. Truman worked in many capacities as a heavy equipment operator, including 18 years with the Alcona County Road Commission. On September 1, 1973, he married Mona Rae Schwerin in Glennie. Truman was happiest in his garage, where he could be found tearing apart motors and putting them back together. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Truman is survived by his wife, Mona Rae, one brother, Allen (Esther) Thornton of Glennie, two brothers-in-law, Clarence Schwerin, and Jack Dale (Simone) Schwerin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Francis Jasman, and two brothers, Ralph and Clyde Thornton. There will be a memorial celebration on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at 3250 Clouse Road, Glennie. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
