Thomas (Tom) Henry Holsworth, 75, passed over early Tuesday morning, September 1, 2026 at Lincoln Haven Nursing Home where he had been a resident-patient for several years. Tom graduated from Alcona High School and earned his living working as an independent stonemason as well as with his father, uncles and cousins. Their beautiful legacy of brick and stone work can be found throughout Alcona and Alpena counties.

Tom became something of a local legend for his original country/folk songs, backwoods lifestyle, and love of animals. Fiercely country, he called himself an “Indian Mountain Man.” He was also an incredible athlete who loved following his favorite sports’ teams.

Although Tom shared many special years with his girlfriend Emmy and, later, Cheryl, he never officially “tied the knot,” remaining single throughout his life, rooted in the land and woods of the Hubbard Lake area where he grew up.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Ann ( née Mersino) Holsworth, sister Barbara, brother John (Jack), and niece Tanya Dunn. He will be sorely missed by his surviving sister Linda Cree (née Holsworth/m. Dunn), niece Aimee Cree Dunn, and grand-nephew Forest Cree, as well as many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A celebration of Tom’s life and music is being planned for June 2027, with a service at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Ossineke, Michigan to be followed by an outdoor gathering at a location still to be determined. Those who wish to remember him with a donation are encouraged to donate to a local food pantry or Humane Society in his memory.
