Terry Dee Stuit, 78, of Mikado, passed away peacefully at his home, February 22, 2026.

Terry was born May 8, 1947, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Jack and Mary (Brown) Stuit. Terry lived in Dutton, Bay City and then became a lifelong resident of Mikado. He married his former wife in 1969, and had four daughters, Vicki, Becki, Nicki, and Tamie. Later in life he met the love of his life Linda Fahselt who loved and cared for him the past 27 years.

Terry graduated from Oscoda High School in 1965 and then served in Vietnam from 1966-1967, as a member of the U.S. Navy Sea Bees. He worked at Valley Chrome in Bay City, Alcona Motors, Starboard Industries, and then became self-employed as the “Sandman” for several years.

Terry was a professional at many things, logging, cutting wood, hunting, fishing, poaching venison, violating the law, backhoe work, hauling sand, welding and creating his very own one-of-a-kind inventions like his boatcar, wind machine, airplane and Yamazookie. He enjoyed showing off his inventions every year in several Fourth of July parades. He loved spending time with all of his grandkids, taking them on many unforgettable vacations on his bus. Terry was a father figure to many others that he taught how to work & invent things. Every grandchild and child that came over had a “nickname”, he never called them by their real name. Terry had his very own Cadillac Ranch on Cruzen Road in Mikado that made the Alpena News a few years ago. His property was one of a kind and a sight to see. He was one of the many legends of Mikado.

Terry is survived by the love of his life of the past 27 years Linda Fahselt, three daughters Vicki Wassmann, Nicki (Jeff) Bartz- Stuit, Tamie Stuit (Aaron Warren), grandchildren Matt Wassmann, Mark Wassmann, James (Danielle) Wassmann, Hannah (Brenden) Prout, Sarah (Justin) Apsey, Mitchell Ladd (Ashley Rizzardi) Lona Bartz, Ryan Bartz, several great grandchildren, one brother, Steve Stuit, one sister Mary Dawson, one niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mary Stuit, his daughter, Becki Wassmann, his granddaughter, Mindy Wassmann, and his former wife Cheryl Travis.

A one of a kind memorial will be held on June 5, 2026, at 3:30pm at the Mikado Civic Center, 2291 F-41, Mikado, with Steve Stuit officiating. A dinner will be provided by Mikado Goodfellows. As per Terry’s request, entertainment will follow the dinner from 5:30 to 7
