Shirley A. Herrera, 83, of Barton City, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

Born January 16, 1942 to John and Dorothy (Martin) Sylvia in New Bedford MA, she was raised there and in California. On September 24, 1958, she married Richard L. Herrera in Las Vegas NV. They were residents of Glendora CA, and moved to Clio in 1970. They moved to Barton City in 1979. Shirley worked at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community for 38 years as a CNA, and most recently as the activities director. She enjoyed knitting, tending to her flower garden, playing BINGO, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Barton City Eagles Aerie 4141.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Annette (David) Young, and Lisa (Lynn) Mattice, nine grandchildren, Ryan Young, Tehea Young, Ashley Chapdelaine, Tasha Burgan, Heather Adams, Tiffany Mattice, and Melissa, Richard III, and Michael Herrera, several great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Daisy May. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Herrera Sr., on December 19, 2007, her son, Richard L. Herrera Jr., on May 24, 2019, her sister, Delores Escobedo, her brother, Ronald Sylvia, and her nephew, John Escobedo.

Mrs. Herrera is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will be on Monday, June 30, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Barton City.
