Shelly Jean Dunn, 78, of Harrisville, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Alpena.
Born June 23, 1948, to Howard D. and Rosa H. (Evans) Apsey in Harrisville, MI, she was a lifelong resident of the area. On August 19, 1966, she married Douglas Dunn in Harrisville. Shelly was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisville. She was an active member, and took care of the bookkeeping, organized funeral luncheons, and organized the annual pie sale among many other things. She managed the Alcona County Food Pantry, ensuring that many residents never went without a meal. In the summer she was often seen mowing her grass, and keeping a perfect lawn. She enjoyed camping with family, especially in Munising, as it brought back memories of her husband Doug. Shelly enjoyed her family and cooking for everyone. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
Shelly is survived by two daughters, DeAnna (Scott) McKenzie, DaNina Griffin, one son, Daniel (Andrea) Dunn, seven grandchildren, Cody Reprogal, Conner Morgan, Cortney (Matt) Dorr, Kaylee (Brandon) Sanborn, Jacob (Brady) Robbins, Tyler Dunn, and Sydney Dunn, nine great grandchildren, her sister Howie (Wayne) Dault, her brother-in-law, Harry (Nancy) Dunn, her sister-in-law, Lois Gehres, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas L. Dunn on June 11, 2009, two sisters, Rosemarie Dunham and Eleanor Smith, and her son-in-law, Tim Griffin.
Visitation will be Friday, July 17, 2026 from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church of Harrisville. Rev. Reeve Segrest will officiate. Memorial donations are suggested to the United Methodist Church of Harrisville.
