Sandra Kay Dubuque (LaLonde), of Spruce, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on July 20, 2026, at the age of 82.
Sandra was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 3, 1943. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert LaLonde; her mother, Bernice DeVary; her brother, Larry LaLonde; and her daughter-in-law, Rebecca S. Dubuque, wife of her son, Don.
Sandra worked part-time at Mt. Mariah Ski Hill and Restaurant, Caledonia Elementary, and Rodney's while raising her five children and helping support the family farm. She was devoted to her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with her 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She never missed a family birthday and expressed her love through delicious home-cooked meals, generous hospitality, and creating cherished holiday traditions. Christmas was the highlight of the year, and she began preparing months in advance to make it a special celebration for everyone she loved. Holiday gatherings often filled her home with laughter, and it was not uncommon for her to prepare a feast for as many as 40 family members, making sure everyone left with a full heart and a full plate.
Sandra was an avid bowler, enjoying both a couples league and many years in a women's bowling league. She loved reading, cooking, tending to her plants, playing cards, camping, going to garage sales, and trying her luck at the slot machines. She will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering devotion to her family and her beloved husband, and the countless memories she created around her table and in her home.
Sandra is survived by her husband, David T. Dubuque; her son, Donald L. Dubuque, of Fenton, Michigan, and his children, Rachel, Aimee, Sophia, and Alaina; her son, Jeffrey T. Dubuque (Rebecca A.), of Freeland, Michigan, and their children, Kaitlyn (Branden), Ryan (Abbye), and Evan, and grandchildren, Parker, Madelyn, Eloise, and Griffin; her son, David N. Dubuque (Staci), of Harrisville, Michigan, and their children, Benjamin (Gabbi), Isaac, Elliot, Emily, Isabel, and Will, and grandchildren, Davey and Oliver; her daughter, Suzanne K. Dubuque (Laaron), of Howell, Michigan, and their children, Natasha (Joseph), Elizabeth, Caleb, and Annalise, and grandchildren, Gabriela and Nora; and her son, William J. Dubuque (Kristin), of Dexter, Michigan, and their children, Claire, Jack, and Juliette.
The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Hitzelberger and the nurses at Alpena Cancer Center for their compassionate care, kindness, and support throughout Sandra's cancer journey.
Visitation will take place at Gillies Funeral home in Lincoln. Michigan on Saturday July 25th at 11:00am until the service at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Joe Collins officiating.
