Samuel A. Rizzotto, 80, of Mikado, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026 at his home.

Born December 8, 1945, to Stephen and Rose (Altman) Rizzotto in The Bronx, New York, he was raised on Long Island and West Babylon. Sam served in the United States Military from 1963 until 1967. After his time in the Air Force, he worked for Grumman on the Lunar Module team. On November 4, 1967, he married Terry Kelly in New York. They were residents of New York, Pontiac, MI, and Crump, MI, before moving to Mikado in 1976. Sam was the proud owner of Sam Rizzotto Excavating, a company he ran for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Harrisville Council 4235 and of the Fourth Degree. Sam was also active with the U.S. Air Museum in Oscoda, and was a member of the Mikado American Legion and of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a volunteer firefighter and first responder with the Mikado Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. He loved the outdoors, tinkering, and making wine, but most of all Sam enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandsons.

Sam is survived by his wife, Terry, three children, Tina Borchers, Tom Rizzotto (Teresa Young), and Toni (Sandy) Rizzotto, six grandsons, Steven (Jessica) Rizzotto, Dylan (Kaylin) Rizzotto, Matthew (Alexis) Rizzotto, Joseph (Keelyn) Rizzotto, Walker Borchers, and Mason Borchers, and his sister, Joan Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Rizzotto on January 17, 1989.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will continue on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Mikado. Rev. Lawrence Boks will officiate. Burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery, Mikado.
