Ronald D. Swales

Ronald D. Swales, 84, of Harrisville, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020. Born July 16, 1935 to Clifford and Thelma (Steadman) Swales in Detroit, MI, he was raised there. On July 24, 1954, he married Elaine Plew in Detroit. Ron owned a commercial laundry business for 23 years. He retired in 1995. Ron loved the city of Harrisville. He and Elaine raised their family here and enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage. He loved vacationing in Florida each winter. He was an avid reader, and you never saw him without a book. Ron is survived by his wife, Elaine, three daughters, Beth (LeRoy) Travis of Harrisville, Susan (Terry Griffith) Rickert of Mikado, and Leann (John) Hanner of Spruce, two sons Dave (Debbie) Swales of Tawas and Michael (Janice Murry) Swales of Flint, 17 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his great grandson Caden Gordon, two sons-in-law, Bob Stone and Rick Rickert and his sister Marijane Hague.
