Robert “Bob” Fox passed away on February 10, 2026 at The Brook of West Branch.

Bob was born on February 16, 1942, in Alpena, Michigan, to Herbert and Hazel (Ruell) Fox. He was raised and educated in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School in 1960. In 1962, he married Linda Johnston of Harrisville at Trinity Episcopal Church in Alpena. Shortly after their marriage, Bob and Linda moved to attend Central Michigan University, where Bob pursued a degree in biology along with a teaching certificate.

In January of 1965, Bob began his teaching career at Meridian High School in Sanford, Michigan, where he dedicated 37½ years to education. He earned his master’s degree from Central Michigan University in 1968. During his summers, Bob taught driver education and later spent his time building houses, remodeling homes, and doing body work on cars—skills that reflected both his strong work ethic and hands-on ingenuity.

In retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of University of Michigan Wolverines sports and rarely missed a game. He also especially treasured quiet moments with his dog, Ginger, who was a constant and faithful companion.

Bob and Linda welcomed their first son, Todd, in 1974, followed by their second son, Chad, in 1975.

Bob is survived by his sons, Todd (Lynn) and Chad (Danielle); nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dr. William Fox, beloved wife, Linda, and his great-grandson, Flynn Robert.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Bob’s cremains will be interred at Westlawn Cemetery. In memory of Bob, please consider a contribution to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements were handled by Gillies Funeral Home.
