Norma J. Ludwiczak, 85, of Black River, died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Medilodge of Alpena.

Born October 23, 1940, to Cyril and Bertha (Crevier) LaLonde in Harrisville, she was a lifelong resident of the area. On October 21, 1961, she married Jerry Ludwiczak in Black River. Norma was a dedicated bus driver for Alcona Community Schools. After she retired, she worked as a granny at Sanborn Elementary School. Norma was an active member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, and of its ladies solidarity and altar society. She was the first woman to join the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in Alpena, and was the first woman elected as Commander. She served in the Auxiliary for 30 years.

Norma is survived by four children, Jerry Ludwiczak II, Debbie (Harry) Ludwiczak-Henry, Jennifer Ludwiczak, and Brian (Carrie) Ludwiczak, six grandchildren, Marc (Jessica) Hornkohl, Austin Ludwiczak, Trevor Ludwiczak, Ashley Bridgewater, Garrett Ludwiczak, and Derek Ludwiczak, three sisters, Rosalie Schliska, Patty James, and Marion Mulvahill, one brother, Leroy LaLonde, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry on July 4, 2012, her sister, Eva Lewis, and her brother, Bob LaLonde.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Black River. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Gabriel Catholic Church or to Hospice of Michigan.
