Monty Kruttlin

Monty L. “Moose” Kruttlin, 87, of Harrisville, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Born November 18, 1937, to Claud Emil and Ellen (Rickert) Kruttlin in Curran, he was raised on the Rickert Farm in Mikado. After high school, Moose worked in the Detroit area. On September 12, 1959, he married Noreen Michaud in East Detroit. They were residents of Westland, and moved to Harrisville in 1970. Moose owned and operated Alcona Tool and Machine, Hillman Tool, and Wiser Tool. He was a life member of the Lincoln Lions, Alcona Lodge #292 F & A M, and the Shriners. He was the former president of the Alcona Schools Board of Education. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling. He was an avid football fan, and played semi-pro football.

Monty is survived by his wife of 66 years, Noreen, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Claud Emil, and Fred Kruttlin. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Phillip Emil in 1979, and Keith in 2008, and his brother Emil Kruttlin, and his parents.

Monty is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may visit on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 2:00 PM until the Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Phil and Keith Kruttlin Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of the Community Foundation of Northeastern Michigan, 100 N. Ripley, Suite F, Alpena, MI 49707.
