Mary Ann T. Roland, 81, of Hubbard Lake passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with her family by her side.

Born May 13, 1944, to John and Theresa (Kusmierczyk) Czarnota in Great Falls, Montana, she was raised in Detroit. On October 10, 1964, she married John E. Roland in Detroit. They were longtime residents of Livonia and Brighton. Mary Ann sold Avon for eight years in Livonia and was a School Food Service Manager for 20 years in Brighton. She retired in June of 1999 and moved with her husband “Up North” to Hubbard Lake. She loved gardening, playing cards, and bunco. She also enjoyed reading, working on jigsaw puzzles, and decorating for every holiday occasion. Most of all, Mary Ann loved spending time with her five grandsons. Mary Ann was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Ossineke, the Hubbard Lake Red Hat Society, the Hubbard Lake Lady Learners, the Bunco Ladies Group, the Hubbard Lake Sportsmen and Improvement Association, and the General Motors Sunrise Side Salaried Retirees. Mary Ann never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special event and always wrote thoughtful, loving messages on every card she sent.

Mary Ann is survived by her three children, Rick Roland, Cindy Roland-Frohriep, and Jeff (Kristen) Roland, five grandsons, Aiden, Luke, Mark, Andrew, and Jonah, three brothers, Walter (Cindy) Czarnota, Robert Czarnota, and Raymond (Patty) Czarnota, one sister, Arlene (Ty) Hovey, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Roland on August 14, 2023, and her brother, Joe Czarnota on June 13, 2019.

Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:00 am until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Ossineke, with a luncheon to follow. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Michigan.
