Margaret Ann Krause, passed away peacefully in her Greenbush, Michigan home April 28, 2025, under the loving care of her children and Hospice of Northeastern Michigan. She was born the third child of four to Edward B and Rhea King Matthews of AuSable, Michigan on July 2, 1933.
Margaret lived her early life in AuSable where life was centered around the family fishing business. Matthews Fisheries was a magical place where the whole family gathered and made lasting memories. She graduated from Oscoda High School and later married Paul L Krause of Detroit (and Greenbush). In 1959 after having three children, the family moved to Detroit and lived there until 1977 when they finally moved HOME to Greenbush, Michigan.
Margaret was a loving and devoted mother. She participated passionately in her children’s education first as Clark Elementary School PTA president and later as a resource teacher and science lab technician at Finney High School. Her passion for education led her to complete many college courses at Wayne State University and inspire her children to pursue their own educations. She also worked in a law office as a para legal. She could repair a broken washing machine or take on refinishing woodwork! Truly a woman of many abilities and no fear!
Margaret was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and attended Hope St Johns Church. She served the congregation in many capacities and in return received many blessings. Thanks be to God!
Margaret loved well and was inspired by the example provided by her mother, Rhea Matthews. Her greatest pleasure was having family close and of course being a fantastic cook, She fed them well! She lived out her Faith, encouraging us all to Love unconditionally.
