Lois E. Carey

Lois E. Carey, 92, of Harrisville, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. 

Born February 13, 1932, to Jacob and Estelle Betz in Detroit, she was raised there and in Ossineke.  Her family bought the land for Oakapiney and built and rented cabins.  Lois attended Michigan State University, where she met William Carey.  They were married June 16, 1954 in Dearborn.  After a term in the United States Air Force, they settled in Farmington Hills, and had two children, James (Jim) and Anne.  They eventually purchased lakefront property north of Sturgeon Point Lighthouse.  

Lois is survived by her daughter Anne Norman of Perry, MI.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on November 20, 2019, and her son James Carey on May 26, 2013.  

Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
