Kristen J. Lee

Kirsten Joyce Lee, age 54, passed away peacefully in her apartment in Alpena, Michigan on April 9, 2025. She was born on January 18, 1971, to Richard and Joyce Lee in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Kirsten lived her formative years in Lapeer, Michigan, and graduated from Lapeer East High School.

She attended Valparaiso University, a Lutheran University in Indiana receiving her Bachelor’s degree. After graduating from Valparaiso, she attended Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree.

Kirsten had an adventurous spirit and traveled to several countries including England, Greece, Belgium, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand carrying a backpack and staying in hostels. Her later years were restricted by mental illness and she lived in an apartment in Alpena, Michigan, near her parents on Hubbard Lake. Her adventure on this earth was one filled with love, compassion, and faith in God. She is remembered as a free-spirit, deep thinker, and fun-loving person who enjoyed conversation and fellowship.

She leaves to mourn, her mother, Joyce Lee, sister Karen (Chris) Hiser and brothers, Kevin (Alison) Lee, and Karl (Karen) Lee. Kirsten is preceded in death by her father, Richard Lee, and a niece, Amy Katherine Lee, who both died in 2018.

Her memory lives on with her nieces and nephews; Aaron, Adam, Andrew, Alexis, Tim, and Lydia, and 5 grand nieces and nephews.

Kirsten’s life will be celebrated privately by close family and friends, and she will be buried in Grace Lutheran cemetery, Alpena, MI.

Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
