Kioni A. Peoples, 19, of Barton City, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 in California.

Kioni was born July 17, 2006 in Vicenza, Italy. He was raised in Sarasota, FL, and in Barton City. He graduated from Alcona Community Schools Claw Academy in 2024. After graduation, Kioni joined the United States Army. He was an avid fisherman, but his passion was in gardening. He enjoyed tinkering with bikes and snowmobiles, an interest that led him to work as a mechanic in the Army. He loved riding motorcycles.

Kioni is survived by his parents Abra and Ender Labarca of Barton City, his father, Eddie Peoples, three brothers, Mekiya Peoples, Ikaika Peoples, and Uriah Peoples, his grandmother, Sondra Kennedy, his aunt and uncle Gretchen (Jon) Whitefield, and their children, Piper, Harper, Raven, and Skyla Whitefield.

Visitation for Kioni will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 10:30 AM until the funeral service with military honors at 12:00 PM at the Oscoda Methodist Church, 120 W Dwight Street, Oscoda, MI 48750. Pastor Pam Harkema will officiate. Please honor Kioni by wearing black and red.
