Karen Helen Champagne (née Jacob), 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov 20th, 2025 in Barton City, Michigan. Born September 14, 1946, in Saginaw MI, she was the daughter of Ralph and Helen Jacob and sister to Tom and Gary Jacob.

Karen graduated from Michigan State University in 1967 and married Richard “Dick” Champagne the same year. They made their home in Flushing, Michigan, where they raised their sons, Ryan and Randy.

A dedicated educator, Karen taught mathematics in the Flint and Flushing School Districts, serving as Head of the Math Department at Zimmerman Junior High. Even after retiring in 1998, she continued to tutor, substitute teach, and support math enrichment programs.

Karen cherished time at the family cabin on Hubbard Lake, where she enjoyed water skiing, swimming, volleyball, reading by the lake, and hosting family gatherings. She was also known for her exceptional baking and longtime involvement with the United Methodist Church of Flushing.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Ryan and Randy; grandchildren, Barrett, Tallulah, Hudson, and Hayden; and brothers, Tom and Gary.

Her warmth, generosity, and love of family will be deeply missed.

A small Alcona Tribute will be held at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln on January 10th, 2025 from 1pm to 3pm with a Celebration of Life in Flushing, MI this coming spring with a date to be announced.
