Joseph Frank Wojewodzic Jr.

April 9, 1955 — January 24, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our father, Mr. Joseph (Joe, Ski) Frank Wojewodzic Jr, son of the late Anna and Joseph Wojewodzic Sr, passed away this month, January of 2023. Dad was born and raised in Mt Clemens, Michigan. In high school he played football and he was a wrestling champ. As soon as Dad graduated from high school in 1973, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Ski was a plankowner on the Aegis class cruiser, USS Arleigh Burke DDG 51. During his time at sea he went to many different countries and always brought back gifts for his family. Dad loved playing racquetball when he was younger and he loved watching football while rooting for the Detroit Lions. Dad retired from the Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service. After Dad retired he remained in New Jersey, working for Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems until we all graduated high school. A few years later Dad got to live his dream of retirement in North Michigan. Dad loved to hunt and fish so he retired to his house on Hunter’s Lake in Glennie MI, the heart of the Huron National Forest. Dad’s 6 grandchildren knew him as Gramps and loved visiting him in Michigan. Dad loved his grandchildren very much. Dad really valued the summer visits we took to spend time with him and the weekly facetime calls to catch up and just say “I love you”. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Lauryn Wojewodzic of Roebling, NJ, Alexandra (William Purcell) Wojewodzic of Proctor, VT, and Maxwell (Caitlin) Bassett of Red Hook, NY. Gramps will also be remembered by his grandchildren: Regan Neal, David Crespo Jr, Vivian Crespo, Anya Crespo, Karmello Crespo, and Bear Bassett. Joe was predeceased by his sister Carol Pullis and his memory will live on in his sister Antoinette (James) Schweitzer of Oscoda, MI. Uncle Joe's memory will be cherished by his nephew, Charles Pullis of Richmond, MI. Joe’s memory will remain in the heart of his ex-wife Susan Bassett of Sandyston, NJ, who is the mother of his children and who he remained very close with. Our father was such a wonderful man and we will miss him immensely. Dad could be a grouch but in such a loveable way that we will remember that about him with a smile. Dad loved his children, grandchildren and family with everything he had. He would do anything he could to help us. Daddy, you were taken from us so suddenly that there were many things left unsaid. We hope you know how grateful and proud we are to call you our father. We love you and miss you.
