John M. Welty

John M. Welty, 93, of Hubbard Lake, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019 at his home.   Born September 15, 1926 to David R. and Margaret T. (Fisher) Welty in St. Louis MO, he was raised in Lucas, Ohio. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he served as and M.P. in Japan and the Philippines. John retired from Centerline Public Schools in 1986. On August 19, 1986, he married Myrna Bone in Hazel Park and they were residents of Warren. They moved to Hubbard Lake in 1992. John enjoyed fishing and boating. He was a member of the Hubbard Lake Citizens Watch, and of the Hubbard Lake Sportsman Association. He was a member of the VFW Alpena Post #2496 and of the Mikado American Legion #254.     He is survived by his wife, Myrna, one daughter, Karen Welty, two sons, Randy (Anita) and Keith (Vicki) Welty, two grandsons, Aaron and Seth Welty, and his stepson Tom Rossman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Lane), his stepdaughter-in-law, Karen Rossman, two sisters and one brother.   Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
