Jack Foster

John R. “Jack” Foster, 84, of Harrisville, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his home.

Born March 27, 1939, to Ward and Velma (Walker) Foster, he was a lifelong resident of the area.  Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.  On September 5, 1981, he married Gloria Caruthers.  Jack worked as a lineman with Consumers Power and served as the mayor of Harrisville for one term.  He was an avid bowler and was known for his green thumb.  He loved growing things and working in his garden.  He was a member of the Harrisville Goodfellows and of the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. 

Jack is survived by his wife, Gloria, two children, Robert Foster of Pensacola, FL, and Kathryn Angles (Fred Bishop) of Brooklyn, MI, two step children, Shannon Pemble (Phil Golke) of Charlevoix, MI, and Douglas (Corina) Powell of Savannah, GA, seven grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Katherine, Samantha, Andrea, Elizabeth, and Paige, two great grandchildren, Joey and Ava, and his brother, Raymond (Virginia) Foster of Augusta, MI. 

Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.  Memorial donations are suggested to the Harrisville Goodfellows.
