Ilene V. Hammel

Ilene V. Hammel, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Harrisville, MI on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Ilene was born May 21, 1932, to Louis J. and Ellen (Hartley) Kehr and raised in Flint, Michigan. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her passions were as vibrant as her personality; Whether hand-quilting, knitting, or crocheting, her essence was as rich as the threads she wove. She found serenity tending to her garden and nurturing her beloved daffodils. Ilene had an intelligent and witty mind illuminating any room for those fortunate to know her. 

As she bids farewell to this earthly realm, Ilene is survived by her loving husband, James (Jim) Hammel. She leaves a tapestry of memories cherished by her daughters, Deborah Bocock and Denise (Lyn) Bell, her son, Dennis Foust and brother, Gerald Kehr. Ilenes spirit lives on through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward. As she embarks on her final journey, Ilene is reunited with her daughter, Donna Simmons, her sister, Margaret Scott, and her brothers, Donald, and Frederick Kehr.  

Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Services were held privately.  Memorial donations are suggested to the Friends of the Alcona County Library, Harrisville, or to Hospice of Michigan.
