Howard L. McKee

Howard L. McKee, 78, of Oscoda, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Medilodge in Frankenmuth. Born August 6, 1942 to Cecil and Florence “Dolly” (Bye) McKee in Sault Ste. Marie, he was raised there. He married Elida Sten in 1964. Howard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. After Vietnam he continued serving in the Army Reserves until he retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He graduated from Michigan Technological University and worked as a program manager for General Motors. Longtime residents of Holly, Howard retired in 1997 and moved to Oscoda. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and raising Beagles. He was a member of the Mikado American Legion Post #254, and of the Iosco Sportsman Club. Howard is survived by his wife Elida, two daughters, Rondy (Fred) McKee of Puerto Vallarta, and Polly (Paul) Masterson of Oscoda. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Zollner. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
