Helen A. Volrath

Helen A. Volrath, 87, of Harrisville, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born May 13, 1935, to Frank and Sophie (Friedman) Grabske in Chicago, Il, she was raised in Lemont. On May 10, 1958, she married Milton Volrath in Lemont. They were longtime residents of Crestwood, IL, and moved to Harrisville in 1993. Helen loved animals and was active with the Alcona Humane Society. She was a member of the Harrisville Lady Lions and loved working on ceramics. Helen is survived by three children, Scott Volrath, Karen (Steven) Hanuska, and Ann Schroeder, six grandchildren, Stephanie (Paul) Lodato, Samantha (Shaun) Volrath, Jessica (Steve) Young, Dan (Kristin) Ritter, Kaitlyn (Morgan) Franklin, and Emily Dennett, and five great grandchildren, Madison Young, Riely Young, Theo Ritter, Cris Davis, and Ayden Franklin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton on June 3, 2006. There will be a memorial service Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Gillies Funeral Home in Harrisville.
