Geraldine K. Moody

Geraldine K. Moody, “Geri”, “Kay Mochty”, 80, of Glennie, passed away peacefully Monday, August 31, 2026, at her home.

Born May 22, 1946, to Albert V. Sr. and Nora M (McKenna) Mochty in AuSable, Michigan, Geri was a lifelong resident of the area and a true one-of-a-kind woman who touched the lives of countless people.

Geri leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and memories in her four children; Edward Moody Jr., Paula Moody-Cole (Scott Cole), Christopher Moody (Dana), and Scott Moody, four Grandchildren; Jonathan Surgener (Lexi Lask), Abigail Moody, Chad Cole (Alli), and Scott Cole Jr. (Krista), and a Great Granddaughter Leeah Cole.

She also leaves behind three sisters; Carol Hobart (Fred Teeter), Rita Beck (Bob), and Julie Grabow (Darrell), two brothers; Frank Mochty (Denise), and Joseph Mochty; her brother-in-law Frank Kassuba; numerous nieces and nephews; many longtime friends including Bonnie Stanley, Irene Wargo and Joan Wallace. She also had special adopted Grandkids; Alliahna, Isabella, and Elena Bensman.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, the father of her children, Edward Moody Sr. her former husband, Mac McCormick, her special friend Jeff Fresch, her brother Albert “Butch” Mochty Jr., her sisters, Marge Kassuba and Noreen McRae, (Bill), and her brother-in-law Bill Hobart.

Geri was the proud owner of Glennie Real Estate and a dedicated and passionate broker. She poured her heart into her business and loved helping families find their perfect homes. To Geri, real estate was about much more than buying and selling houses, it was about the people, relationships, and the friendships she made along the way. Her Glennie Real Estate family was a very special part of her life, especially Chanda LaFond, Tim Moynahan and Khristee Shelley.

Those who knew Geri would tell you she was truly one of a kind, the life of the party, a friend to everyone, and a second mother to many including Matt Cavanaugh, Ronnie Newland, Vicki Keersmaekers. She had a personality that filled a room, and a heart that always had room for one more, and a way of making people feel welcome and loved. She was known for her generous spirit, her sense of fun, and her ability to make memories wherever she went.

Geri had a deep and unwavering faith in God. Her faith gave her strength and was something she carried with her through both the good times and the difficult ones. She trusted God’s plan and found comfort in her faith.

Geri especially loved Christmas and looked forward to celebrating with her family. She hosted wonderful Christmas parties filled with laughter, games, prizes, and plenty of love!

Her favorite hobby of all time was gambling! Geri absolutely loved to gamble, so much that there were times when she would be having so much fun, she would forget that she needed her oxygen and her walker! Geri also enjoyed watching the birds and other wildlife that visited her yard, finding joy in the simple things around her.

Geri wasn’t just someone you knew, she was someone you remembered. She was a legend in her own time. Her larger-than-life personality, quick wit, generous heart, and her unforgettable spirit made her a person who could never be replaced. She had a way of turning ordinary moments into stories that would be told for years, and her presence could light up an entire room. There will never be another Geri!

She will be deeply missed, but the memories, stories, laughter, and love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

As Geri was always the life of the party, she has set aside a private fund for a celebration of life to be held in her honor at the Warrior Pavillion in Oscoda on October 9, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM. Food and drinks will be provided.
