Gerald "Bud" Girard

Gerald L. "Bud" Girard, 80, of Harrisville, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Born May 15, 1945, to Russel and Elizabeth (Getchel) Girard in Mt. Clemens, MI, where he was raised. Bud worked as a Deputy for the Macomb County Sheriff's Department. He retired in 1995 after 25 years of service. Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Millie, retired to Harrisville. Bud was a member of New Life Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Police. Throughout his life, Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Bud is survived by his wife, Jeanne Meskus, two sons, Marc (Theresa) Girard, Matthew Girard, his step-son David Kohler and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Girard, two step-sons, Donald and Grant Kohler, and his step-daughter, Shelley Kohler.

Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, MI. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to New Life Lutheran Church, the Alcona Humane Society or to the Tunnels to Towers veteran foundation.
