Eula Sevine (Williams) Anderson, lovingly known as “Blondie” to many and “Chicken” to her beloved husband, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, just six days after celebrating her 87th birthday in the house her husband built—a home filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
Born in Lawrence Co. Alabama on May 12, 1938, to Robert and Nealie Ann (Osborn) Williams, she was the cherished sister of Harriet “Delilah,” James, and Hattie “Estelle,” all who preceded her in death. On September 27, 1954, Eula married Morgan James “Jim” Anderson in Luka, Mississippi, and together they shared a devoted marriage of over 60 years until Jim’s passing on February 14, 2016.
Eula’s life was a rich tapestry woven with the love of her children: Hugh “Jr” Anderson (partner Ailyn), Mellanie Bishop (partner Fred), Jeff (Tina) Anderson, Roger (Cassie) Anderson, Ross (Wendy) Anderson, and Vicki Anderson. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kathleen Shaw, Jessica (Dustyn) Morgan, Jennifer Evans, Jacob Bishop, Kaelie (Chris) Connolly, Morgan Anderson, Karlie (Christian) Smith, Dale, Derrick and Lexie Anderson as well as her step-grandchildren Linda Smith, Michelle Mercier, Jacob Murphy and Jessica Avila. She was the proud great-grandmother to 18 and great-great-grandmother to 6. She was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren and her beloved great grand-dog, Carlos.
Eula had a rare gift for hospitality. Her home was always open, her kitchen always warm, and her table a welcoming place. Her famous cloverleaf rolls and generous meals were as legendary as her wins at word games like Balderdash and Scattegories. In younger days, she and Jim loved their bowling league and the PTA. She was always ready for game night, loved Jeopardy (not to mention Alex Trebek’s mustache) and a challenge on the Wii—especially bowling. You would often find her in a quiet moment with a crossword or watching her birds. She even began learning Spanish several years ago, ever curious, always finding ways to keep her mind sharp.
Though she loved the water, she was never a swimmer. Instead, her heart raced behind the wheel of a fast car—ideally a convertible—where she felt truly alive. Fiercely honest and unapologetically wise, Eula was known for giving the advice you needed, whether you were ready for it or not. She could hold a grudge, but she held her family closer.
She traveled widely in later years, finding joy in the vast beauty of the American West, Niagara Falls and the charm of the East Coast. But no matter where she roamed, her heart remained rooted in her family, in the house Jim built over 60 years ago and the community she loved so dearly.
Eula will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, sharp wit, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones. She was a true matriarch—a woman of strength, warmth, and fierce love. Her absence leaves an unfillable space in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy lives on in every meal shared, every laugh echoed at the game table, and every life she touched.
