Elaine E. Swales

Elaine E. Swales, 90, of Harrisville, died Monday, May 26, 2025.

Born August 13, 1934, to Dean and Marie (Anderson) Plew in Harrisville, she lived there most of her life. On July 24, 1954, she married Ronald D. Swales in Detroit. They resided in Detroit and Livonia, returning to Harrisville in 1969. Elaine was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 184. She enjoyed gardening and hunting, but most of all loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by five children, David (Debbie) Swales, Beth (Leroy) Travis, Susan Rickert (Terry Griffith), Michael Swales (Janice Murray), and Leann (John) Hanner, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Jean (Lyle) Holm, and Joyce Jamieson, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald on May 11, 2020, her great grandson, Caden Gordon, two sons-in-law, Bob Stone and Rick Rickert, her sister-in-law, Marijane Hague, and two brothers-in-law, Glen “Skip” Hague and Roger Jamieson.

There will be a graveside service Friday, May 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Springport Cemetery in Harrisville. Meg Nisbet will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice. Arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home.
