Charles R. Smith

Charles R. Smith, 76, of Harrisville, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at his home. Born August 25, 1944 to Bethel and Denetta (Schultz) Smith in Alpena, he was a lifelong resident of the area. On November 22, 1985 he married Krisha Wyns in Alpena. Chuck served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Sergeant. He had a passion for the military and loved sharing stories of his time in the service. Chuck worked for RPI in Oscoda, retiring after 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and playing cornhole and euchre. He was a proud father and grandfather and his face would light up when one of his kids or grandkids would enter the room. Chuck is survived by his wife, Krisha, five children, Neil Smith, Nikole Smith, Ryan (Jeanette) Smith, Erika (Kiel) Rice, and Karsen Smith, ten grandchildren, Austin (Kaitlyn) Compton, Maddison Compton, Devin, Cuyler, Stella, Harrison, and Josie Smith and Sophie, Lucy, and Gemma Rice, one great grandson, Oliver Tebby, three brothers, Lee, Bethel, and Kevin Smith, and four sisters, Dixie Winters, Darlene Cardwell, Delores Stevens, and Phyllis Summers. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Smith is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where visitation will be Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 P.M.
