Catherine A. Young

Catherine A. Young, 63, of Spruce, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at her home. Born November 18, 1959, to William and Carol (Stoddard) Wallace in Flint, MI, she was raised in Swartz Creek. Cathy graduated from Carmen High School, and Fenton School of Hair Design. She worked as a beautician and as an instructor in Linden and moved to Spruce in 2010. She was a member of the Barton City Eagles Auxiliary. Cathy enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, growing aloe plants, tending to her flower beds, and feeding the hummingbirds. She liked fishing and watching NASCAR racing. Cathy is survived by her spouse, John Cunningham, her daughter, Ashley (Bradley) Thomas, her son, Derrick Cunningham, two grandchildren, Evelyn and Matthew Thomas, two sisters, Julie (Dennis) Coleman and Andrea Lowe, her brother, Ryan (Christine) Wallace, two very special aunts, Judy Owens and Sandy Stowell, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Michael Wallace. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Cathy’s family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Hitzelberger, Tracy, Jade, and the staff and MyMichigan Medical Cancer Center, and to the team at Hospice of Michigan for their care.
