Carol A. Franklin, 75, of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Born November 19, 1947, to Flossie (Ross) Kingsland in Bad Axe, MI, she was raised there. Carol graduated from Alcona High School, and attended Alpena Community College where she earned an Associate of Arts degree. She was a devoted caregiver, and worked for Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health from 1986 until 2013. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Lincoln. Carol enjoyed reading, knitting, and volunteering with the Food Bank. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports. Carol is survived by four children, Jeff Franklin of Oscoda, MI, Brad Franklin of Lincoln, MI, Kirk (Laura) Franklin of Oscoda, MI, and Vicki (Chris) Kersten of Bellevue, MI, four grandchildren, Nolan Kersten of West Point, NY, Owen Franklin of Midland, MI, Alexandra Kersten of San Francisco, CA, and Evan Franklin of Oscoda, MI, four sisters, Mary Gedro of Caro, MI, Julie Matuzak of Clinton Twp., MI, Bonnie (Larry) Gildea of Gobles, MI, and Mendy Romero of Traverse City, MI, one brother, David (Carol) Kingsland of Greenbush, MI, and nieces and nephews, Lydia (Andrew) Marvel, Iain Gildea, Brianna (Anthony) Menzel, Devon (Amy) Gildea, Allie Matuzak, Cole (Rose) Romero, Sam Romero, Wyatt Romero, and Frank (Nikki) Root. She was preceded in death by her mother, and her dad, Bud (Edward) Matuzak, and three brothers, Frederick Kingsland III, Robert Kingsland, and David Gedro. Carol's family will receive visitors on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the memorial service at 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln. Dr. Rev. Arie Van Brenk will officiate. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Lincoln, or to the Lincoln Library.
