Betty L. Anderson

April 7, 1944 — November 30, 2021

Betty L. Anderson, 77, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Besser Senior Living in Alpena. Born April 7, 1944 to Andrew and Goldie (Ehrismann) Timm in Spruce, she was a lifelong resident of the area. On August 15, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Anderson in Ossineke. Betty worked as a secretary for several years and happily became a full-time mom when her daughters were born. She supplemented her family’s income by starting a part-time wedding and stationery business that she operated from home. She and Gary later bought a motel in Alpena and welcomed visitors with old-fashioned hospitality for eleven years. Betty was an active member of Spruce Lutheran Church, where she served in many capacities over the years to further the Lord’s work. Betty’s world revolved around her family and she went above and beyond to make sure that they were always well cared for. She enjoyed the simpler things in life including gardening, music, dancing, sewing, crafting, and spending time outdoors. Her grandchildren brought her enormous joy and she supported them unconditionally. Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gary, two daughters, Shelly Brink and Julie Anderson (Steve Gehres), five grandchildren, Michael (Lea) Emington, Eric Brink, Matthew Brink, Nicholas Emington, and Bradley Emington, one great granddaughter, Annastasia Emington, two sisters, Dorothy Hansen and Shirley Klemens, one brother, Ken Timm, two sisters-in-law, Helen Timm and Charlotte (Don) Beaver, one brother-in-law John (Gladys) Anderson, many nieces and nephews, and two bonus grandchildren, Nicole Gehres and Tyler Gehres. She was preceded in death by her grandson Jonathon Emington, two brothers, Marvin Timm and Lloyd Timm, her sister-in-law Norma Timm, and two brothers-in-law Gordon Hansen and Bill Klemens. Mrs. Anderson is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 1:00 until the funeral service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Giovanna Meek will officiate. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice Compassus. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Betty L. Anderson, please visit our flower store.
