Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters, 87, of Mikado, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Medilodge Greenview in Alpena.  

Born July 7, 1936 to James and Bertha (Predmore) McGillis in Mikado, she has been a lifelong resident.  On April 18, 1956, she married Rex Walters in Milan, Illinois.  They owned and operated Rex and Barb’s store in Mikado.  

Barbara is survived by five children, Bobbie (Paul) Champine of Oscoda, Rex (Ruth) Walters of Petoskey, Mary (Leonard) Gentile of Cox’s Creek KY, Gail Kadrich of Mikado, and Terry Walters of Kalkaska, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, her sister, Judy Hills of Petoskey, and her brother, James (Pat) McGillis of Saginaw, MI.  She was preceded in death by her husband Rex Walters on February 4, 2001, her sister, Mary Straub, two brothers-in-law, Mike Hills, and Jack Straub, and her niece Kathy Straub.  

There will be a graveside service at the Mikado Cemetery on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
