Anne M. Smith

Anne M. Smith, 79, of Spruce, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at MyMichigan Medical Center, Alpena surrounded by her family.  

Anne was born on November 7, 1944 to D.W. and Olive Richmond in Northville, MI.  They moved to Spruce shortly after, where she spent her life.  Anne was a teaching assistant at Barton City and Harrisville Elementary Schools.  She worked for Community Mental Health for several years, as well as at the Anchor Market.  She was a Notary Public.  Anne was a Donation Coordinator for the American Red Cross for over 20 years.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  Anne was a founding member of the South Shore Hubbard Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and was the secretary for the Alcona County FireFighters Association for several years.   

Anne is survived by her loving husband, Carl, her daughter Faith (Duane) LaFave of Spruce, her son Rick (Paula) Smith of Spruce, her granddaughters Cheryl and Brandy LaFave, and her great granddaughter, Jaylin.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her son, Robert Smith.  

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the South Shore Fire Department Community Center.  Memorial donations are suggested to the Alcona County Humane Society, or the South Shore Fire Department. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
