d. November 27, 2024

Barton City

Andrew and Naomi Cox passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Andy was born April 12, 1971 to Richard and Gwendolyn (Ranck) Cox in Livonia, MI. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was active during the Gulf War. He moved to Barton City in 1996. Andy locally owned and operated Cox’s Plumbing and Heating, building it from the ground up. He was a member of The Eagles, the Barton City V.F.W., and the Mikado American Legion.

Naomi was born December 30, 1973 to Warren and Gail (Kimberlin) Leeseberg in Flint, MI. She was raised in Montrose, and moved to Lincoln in 1997. She was a registered nurse, who dedicated several years of service to Davita Dialysis in Northern Michigan. She was currently working with both Fresenius Dialysis and MyMichigan Health Systems, hospital in Tawas City. She also served as Millen Township Deputy Treasurer.

Andy and Naomi were married on February 1, 2003, in Las Vegas, NV, and were residents of Harrisville, later moving to Barton City.

Andy was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time hunting, fishing, and had an absolute passion for feeding his friends and family and helping anyone he could. Naomi loved traveling, spending time on Jewell Lake, and hosting her friends and family any chance she got. They both cherished any time spent with their grandchildren and sharing their passions with them. More than anything they loved each other.

They truly loved their community, and were instrumental in the formation of the Friends of the Barton City Park community organization. Andy and Naomi’s desire to have an amazing space for their own grandchildren blossomed into an amazing space for the communities’ children and grandchildren and brought them so much joy and pride, they had a genuine heart for all the children of the community. It culminated in the rebuilding of the playground at the Millen Township Park which was one of their proudest accomplishments. Additionally, they co-founded the Barton City Trunk or Treat, and dedicated countless hours to the Barton City community, including a residency as park managers.

Naomi is survived by her parents Warren and Gail Leeseberg, and by her siblings, Matthew (Christy) Leeseberg, Nathanael (Kristina) Leeseberg, and Timothy (Danielle) Leeseberg.

Andy is survived by his father, Richard Cox, and his siblings Laura (Jeff) Scott, Steven (Christine) Cox, and Aaron (Jacki) Cox.

Naomi is also survived by her son Justin (Danielle) Mier. They are survived by their daughters Phebie (Dan) McClure, and Samantha (Andrew) LeBlanc, and their grandchildren, Jack Longnecker, Carter Pardo, and Eleanor LeBlanc.

They are survived by many nieces and nephews, including Leighann, Leah, Steven Jr., Gavin, Asher, Nora, and Alec, Kallen, Kenzie, Cody, Logan, Warren, Robert and Timothy; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

They were preceded in death by Andy’s mother, Gwen Cox in 2015.
