Shawn E. Odell

Shawn E. Odell, 43, of Taylor, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Oakwood Healthcare System in Dearborn. Born December 27, 1973 to Wayne and Deborah (Parent) Odell in Standish, he was raised in Mikado. After graduating from Oscoda High School, Shawn served in the U.S. Army, and in the U.S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed ‘wrenching’ on things, and worked as an auto mechanic. When he wasn’t working on motors, and trying to make them bigger and faster, he could be found riding his 4-wheeler. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a good bonfire. He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Deborah Odell of Mikado, his brother, William Odell of Mikado, two nieces, Melayne and Taylor Odell, his grandfather, Marlin Odell, his aunt, Tami Stevenson, four uncles, Dru, Brian, and Bruce Parent, and Randy (Jackie) Odell, and his cousin Damian Parent. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Patricia Parent and Lucille Odell. Shawn is at Gillies Funeral Home, where friends may call on Saturday, August 5, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Sunday, August 6, at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rev. Tim Steiner will officiate.
