William J.E. Rumminger

William J.E. Rumminger, 94, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at McCandlish Manor in Grand Blanc. Born June 24, 1922, to William and Lazetta (Netzloff) Rumminger in Detroit, MI, he was raised there and in Gladwin, MI. William served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. On October 27, 1945, he married Dorothy Smelesky in Rogers City. They were members of Lost Lake Woods Club for over 50 years. He was an entrepreneur, who started his own small trucking line. William was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake, and recently attended Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc. He enjoyed golfing, and woodworking, and was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Joy (Wes) Rockett of Alpena, two sons, William Rumminger of Grand Blanc, and Thomas Rumminger of Florida, three grandchildren, Jason and Chad Rumminger, and Cameron Metevier, six great grandchildren, and one sister, Florence Meister of Gladwin. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 16, 2011. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
