Robert G. Boelter, 76, of Spruce, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born April 13, 1939 to George and Margaret (Henning) Boelter in Saginaw, he was raised there and in Zilwaukee, MI. On April 23, 1960, he married Barbara Mathewson in Saginaw, and they were residents of Zilwaukee. Robert worked for General Motors as a job setter, and retired in 1989 after more than 30 years with the company. In 1990 he and Barbara moved to Spruce. Robert attended St. Catherine Catholic Church in Ossineke. He was a member of the Hubbard Lake Sportsmen Club, and of the Hubbard Lake Citizen’s Watch. He was a former Treasurer of the Zilwaukee Lion’s Club. He enjoyed woodworking, and hunting and fishing. Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter, Lori (Jeff) Grasso of Bay City, son, Kevin (Shawn) Boelter of Saginaw, three grandchildren, Nicole and Brandon Boelter and Jarred Grasso, his mother, Margaret Boelter of Shields, two sisters, Lynn (Robert) Bohnsack and Sue (Dale) Ludwig, and one brother, Tom (Alicia) Boelter. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and his father, George, in 2007. Mr. Boelter is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Wednesday, July 22, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a parish prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 23, at St. Catherine Catholic Church from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral mass at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Robert Bissot will officiate.
