Marjorie E. Reeves, 83, of Barton City, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at Maple Grove Adult Foster Care in Barton City. Born July 29, 1931 to Ralph and Maude (Hayward) Harmon in Barton City, she was a lifelong resident. She married Winston B. Reeves on August 20 1949. A devoted homemaker, Marjorie also worked as a dispatcher for the Alcona County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years. She was one of the first members of the Barton City Ladies Fire Department, and enjoyed playing softball on the Barton City Belles. She was a member of the Sunnyside Methodist Church in Curran until its closing, and of the Order of the Eastern Star #184 of Lincoln. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Winston, daughter, Wendy (Dan) Richardson of Barton City, son, Winston A. Reeves of Harrisville, six grandchildren, Janette Richardson Stover, Rachael Tallant, Heather Rudolph, Dan Richardson, Winston A. Reeves II, and Desmond Reeves, four great grandchildren, Jenna Richardson, Grace Rudolph, Samuel Rudolph, and Quinlan Richardson, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Illa Deacon, Beatrice Crane, Annette Ludwig, Vert Trader, and Hazel Bates, and two brothers, Fred and Grant Harmon. Mrs. Reeves is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Tuesday, March 17, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 18, at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Mary Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Barton City, in the spring.
