Alvie Lee, 95, of Tawas, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home. Born March 15, 1919 to Harry and Gertrude (McGillis) Lee in Mikado, he was a lifelong resident of the area. Alvie served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On September 15, 1945, he married Edith Tooze in Lincoln. He was a member of the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lincoln, and helped to build the church. Alvie worked in civil service at Wurtsmith Air Force Base as a carpenter and with plaster. He and Edith wintered in Arizona for 15 years, and enjoyed playing cards. He is survived by his wife, Edith, two daughters, Marlene (Bruce) Hoffman, and Sheila (Mike) Schraven, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one sister, Verna Kuenzli, and one brother, Harold Lee. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Van and Gerald Lee, three sisters-in-law, Agnes, Frances, and Erma Lee, and one brother-in-law, Lawrence Kuenzli. Mr. Lee is at Gillies Funeral Home, in Lincoln where friends may call on Monday, January 5 from 2:00 until 7:00. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, January 6, from 10:00 until the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Rev. Jacob Schwartz will officiate.
