Martin J. Hughes

Martin J. Hughes, 76, of Harrisville, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born July 14, 1938 to James and Villa (Jacobs) Hughes in Detroit, he was raised in Royal Oak. On September 7, 1957, he married Barbara Jean Holton in Detroit. A longtime Utica resident, Martin worked as a carpet layer. After retirement, he moved to Harrisville. Martin enjoyed the out of doors, especially hunting and fishing, and making maple syrup. He was a good provider, and a hard worker. Martin is survived by his wife, Barbara, one son, Chris (Danielle) Hughes of Macomb County, three grandchildren, Zack, Jason, and Miranda Hughes, and one brother Oliver (Sybill) Hughes of Arkansas.
