Edward M. Kohut, age 91 of Hubbard Lake passed away Tuesday, July1, 2014 at home. He was born February 2, 1923 in Washington Pa. to Joseph and Mary (Duskey) Kohut, Raised in Detroit he served in the Army Air Force as a tail gunner in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters in WWII. On September 1, 1946 Edward married Alice M. Rudolph in Detroit. He was a Detroit police officer from 1945 until 1971 when he retired as a Sergeant. In 1971 he moved from Detroit to Hubbard Lake. He was a member of the Detroit Police Officers Association, The William Moore Post 6754 Veterans of Foreign Wars and a former member of the Hubbard Lake Sportsman & Improvement Association. Edward was an expert cabinet member and worked in home improvement in Detroit as well as the Hubbard Lake area. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Gale (Anson) Rowley of Hubbard Lake, one son, Keith (Sandy) Kohut of Columbia City, IN, seven grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Scott Kohut in 1967, one sister, Stella Turczynski and one brother Carl Kohut. Private funeral services have been held.
