Truman William Vinson II

Truman William Vinson II, 86, died June 3, 2014 at his home in Harrisville. He was born March 20, 1928 to Truman and Minnie (Cravens) Vinson I, in Momence, IL. After growing up in Momence, Truman enlisted and served in the Navy during WWII 1944-1946. On December 23, 1955 he married Nancy Lou Johnson in Toledo and they made their home in Detroit, later moving to Twining, West Branch, Mio, settling in Harrisville in 1999. Truman was employed by the US Forest Service, was a volunteer for the Ogemaw County Fair, a member and Past Commander of Alcona V.F.W. Post #6466 of Harrisville, and a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Mr. Vinson is survived by four daughters; Kristine (Jim) Wiles of West Branch, Karen Hughes of Tawas, Karol (Steve) Beckwith of Shelbyville and Kathryn Vinson of St. Paul, MN, two sons; Clinton (Kristin) of Sun City, AZ, and Truman W. Vinson III of Harrisville; ten grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy on January 12, 2013, his daughter, Elaine Burk, two sisters; Beatrice Arsheta and Geraldine Williams, and his brother Gene. Inurnment will take place Sunday June 15, 2014, 1:00P.M., at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Harrisville, MI. A luncheon will follow at Maria Hall in Harrisville. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, MI. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Vinson Family Scholarship fund.
