Barbara A. McGarry

Barbara A. McGarry, 86, of Greenbush, died February 26, 2014 at the Alpena Medical Regional Center in Alpena. She was born November 22, 1927 to Charles H. and Margaret R. (Poynter) Barker in Lincoln Park. Barbara married John M. McGarry on August 22, 1947. They were long time residents of Lincoln Park, moving to Greenbush in 1988. She had been a frequent visitor to Greenbush throughout her life, where she had camped on Cedar Lake prior to her parents building a cabin and living in Greenbush. She was a member of St. Andrews by-the-lake Episcopal Church in Harrisville, was a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul of Mikado and an Alcona County Library volunteer and benefactor. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband on October 27, 2009. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Collins of Rochester Hills, a son, John C. McGarry of Lincoln Park and three grandchildren, Mallory McGarry of Dalton GA, Brent McGarry Collins of Chicago IL, and John Connor McGarry of Dalton GA.. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A memorial service will be held in the summer at St. Andrews by-the –lake Episcopal Church, Harrisville.
