Meryl Edward “Ed” Flanigan Jr., 82, of Barton City passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at his home. Born March 8, 1931 Meryl Sr. and Cornelia (Hitt) Flanigan, in Monroe, MI, he was raised in the Detroit area. Ed served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On February 14, 1987, he married Judith Bamberger in Barton City, where they have been long time residents. Ed was a member of the Barton City Eagles Aerie #4141, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burger Wiedbrauk Post #8135 of Barton City. Ed is survived by his wife Judith, three sons, Edward Larsen; Patrick Larsen; and Sean Flanigan, one daughter, Patricia Larsen, eleven grandchildren, one stepson, David (Diana) Bamberger, two sisters, Bonnie (Herb) Washburn and Lois Flanigan, two brothers, Richard (Bea) and Michael (Sue) Flanigan, and one brother-in-law, Roger Lefevre. A memorial service will be announced in the spring. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of M.
