October 10, 1922 — October 9, 2005

Dorothy Ranger Rivers passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed. Born October 10, 1922 in Colfax Township, MI to Henry and Bertha (Smith) Rifenbark, she moved to Barton City at the age of ten. The beloved mother of four children, including the late Ronald Ranger, she is survived by son Harold Ranger, daughters and sons- in-law Joann and Stanley Fournier and Pat and Richard Lucore, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter and numerous relatives and friends who blessed her life with love and laughter. In addition to her son she was preceded in death by her husband Dale and former husband Marvin Ranger. Dorothy was a longtime active member of the Burger-Wiedbrauk Post #8135 V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Barton City Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4141 Auxiliary. Her family will receive visitors from 12:30 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2005 until the memorial service at 2 P.M. at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Cremation arrangements have been made. Private burial services will take place at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Barton City. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Donnell, Gillian and other hospice personnel for the wonderful care and kindness during her illness. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Michigan-Alpena-Alcona County Area, Alpena Regional Cancer Center or the charity of your choice in her name.
